Recognition is so often attempted with closed eyes. This is why you bruise your ego. When your ego becomes bruised it sways you to stay in familiar places. Familiarity can and does close doors.
Me, I like to stay outside. I recognize my ego cannot bang his head on unopened doorways or persuade me to step lightly through narrow hallways. This way we can continue our journey together and do so with our eyes in focus.
We do not do well with our eyes wide shut.
